Just one-quarter of Americans used ALL of their earned time off in 2021. Don’t let this year’s days go to waste - #PlanForVacation today
Join us in celebrating National #PlanForVacation Day, because we’re all better employees – and better people – when we take time to travel.
Did you know that today is National Plan for Vacation Day? Yup, it’s a thing. One day set aside (namely the last Tuesday in January) to encourage Americans to plan their vacation days for the whole year at the start of the year.
National Plan for Vacation Day highlights the importance of taking time off to travel for our own personal health and wellbeing. Back in 2015, the travel industry started tracking American vacation usage. The findings continuously showed that vacation days are not being used – negatively affecting health, relationships, and companies.
Add to that the fact that a recent survey found that more than two-thirds of American workers feel at least moderately burned out!
Thus, the need for National Plan for Vacation Day! A day to inspire more Americans to take time off, look at that 2022 calendar and use those days they’ve earned to travel.
HERE ARE SOME MORE INTERESTING FACTS:
The three-quarters of Americans who planned out their paid time off for the year were MORE LIKELY to use their paid time off to travel in 2021.
More than nine in 10 (91%) Americans say it is important to use their paid time off to travel.
Close to eight in 10 (79%) Americans believe vacations are important to their overall health and well-being.
Have you ever asked yourself why you travel? Sure, sometimes it’s simply because we need to get from point A to point B. But for the most part, the majority of us travel because it fulfills a need – the need for experiences.
Travel has always been in my blood. I think it started when I was 10 and my parents took us to Ireland to meet our cousins for the first time. The whole adventure captivated me and was punctuated by my father’s reminder that he wasn’t going to leave us with much, but he was definitely going to leave us with plenty of good memories.
Experiences are what memories are made of. They are the fabric of our daily lives and they evoke emotions, which again are the driving force behind our travel decisions. You see how that cycle continues? We travel for experiences, the experiences evoke emotion and those emotions prompt us to travel more.
There are so many big and small reasons that motivate our travel decisions. Maybe we want to keep a promise to a loved one, celebrate a milestone, fulfill a challenge, cross a destination off our bucket list, or simply make time to be present to the people we love and care about.
Whatever your reasons may be, make time today to plan your vacations for 2022 and in return you will gain another year full of memories to last a lifetime! Don’t pass up the chance to enjoy your life because tomorrow isn’t promised and today is a gift!
